Official IRS login

Sign in at the IRS Online Account on irs.gov, linked from the IRS Your online account page. There you see your balance by year, your plan and your payments.

Where is the official IRS payment plan login?

The official login is the IRS Online Account, linked from the IRS Your online account page. Your IRS payment plan balance shows there by tax year, along with the details of your plan.

You need a photo ID to create the account the first time. The payment plan tool inside it is open 5 a.m. to midnight Eastern time, per the IRS application page.

Our help is separate from the login. A licensed tax pro takes your call, goes through your plan with you, and tells you exactly what to change.

What can you change in your IRS account?

A change made online costs $6. The same change by phone, mail or in person costs $89, per the IRS fee table.

If you already missed a payment, read what happens after a missed payment. A tax pro can get you back on your plan before the IRS acts.

  • Your monthly payment amount.
  • The day of the month your payment is due.
  • Switching to automatic withdrawals, or changing the bank account on them.
  • Getting back on your plan after a missed payment.

Why isn't my payment showing yet?

Allow one to three weeks for a payment to reach your account, and the full three weeks for a mailed check. Your account shows up to 5 years of payment history, so you can see what posted.

If it is still missing after three weeks, call us with your bank record. A tax pro traces the payment and works to get it credited to your plan.

How do I lower my monthly payment?

Sign in, open your payment plan, enter a new amount and submit. If the amount is too low, the tool stops you and asks for a financial form.

Have the number checked first. Run it through our payment plan calculator, then call and a tax pro sets a monthly amount you can keep paying.

What to do now: get your plan change right

Unpaid tax keeps building interest at 7% per year, compounded daily, while your plan stays wrong. Call now and a licensed tax pro goes through your plan for free. You make the right change today.
